A little bit about me
Hey guys! I thought I'd tell you a little bit about myself- I'm a 22 year old Glaswegian currently in third year of studying veterinary nursing at Edinburgh Napier University.
I've always had an interest in craft and just about anything artistic (don't ask me to draw or paint though!) and one of the first things I remember making was a twisted newspaper doll. At the age of 9 I dabbled in making handbags out of old jeans and proudly showed them off to my parents, who probably felt obliged to tell me it was wonderful. I studied art and textiles for my GCSEs and went on to study textiles for my Alevels. Why, I hear you ask, am I studying veterinary nursing instead of pursuing the arts pathway? |
Well, It was back in 2010 when I applied to several art schools; the feeling of handing my portfolio over to the 'judges', I felt like an x-factor hopeful. Then not getting accepted made me realise that I would feel restricted, just like I felt in school and having to follow a criteria for what? 3, 4 years?
So I decided that I wanted to be my own boss when it came to my work; making what I liked and if people by chance like it too then yay! I went through a drought period after I settled into my current course and in 2012 I finally began working on the pieces you see here! A lot of my work has animals in it so I guess it has some relevance to my studies! So that's my art life in a nutshell. Hope you enjoy the rest of the site! Meghan |
